Let me rock your socks off every Tuesday with two songs that relate to each other in whatever way I see fit.

All Aboard!

Saturday I had the privilege of going to the Railroad Revival Tour. Three highly talented bands riding an old fashioned train to 6 southwestern American cities to play the folkiest, jamminest, most amazing music ever played on banjo, accordian, mandolin, guitar, trumpet and drum.
I didn't sit down, go to the bathroom or have anything to drink for 5 hours straight because the crowd was so thick that if I moved from my spot I would never get back close enough to see the stage. As it was, I had a pretty great view. Pictures are up on my facebook if you haven't seen them yet. There were so many great songs to choose from, but I've already sent out a bit of the old Mumford & Sons a few times before. So, this one being newish, I thought I would send it. And a mellow one from Old Crow to match the feeling.

I Hear Them All lyrics:
I hear the crying of the hungry
In the deserts where they're wandering
Hear them crying out for Heaven's own
Benevolence upon them
Hear destructive power prevailing
I hear fools falsely hailing
To the crooked wits of tyrants when they call

I hear them all (3 times)

I hear the sounds of tearing pages
And the roar of burning paper
All the crimes in acquisition
Turn to air and ash and vapor
And the rattle of the shackle
Far beyond emancipators
And the loneliest who gather in their stalls

I hear them all (3 times)

So, while you sit and whistle Dixie
With your money and your power
I can hear the flowers a-growing
In the rubble of the towers
I hear leaders quit their lyin'
I hear babies quit their cryin'
I hear soldiers quit their dyin', one and all

I hear them all (3 times)

I hear the tender words from Zion
I hear Noah's waterfall
Hear the gentle lamb of Judah
Sleeping at the feet of Buddha
And the prophets from Elijah
To the old Paiute Wovoka
Take their places at the table when they're called

I hear them all (9 times)

Lover of the Light lyrics:
In the middle of the night, I may watch you go
There'll be no value in the strength of walls that I have grown
There'll be no comfort in the shade of the shadows thrown
But I'll be yours if you'll be mine

Stretch out my life and pick the seams out
Take what you like, but close my ears and eyes
Watch me crumble over and over

I have done wrong, so build your tower
But call me home and I will build a throne
And wash my eyes out never again

But love the one you hold
And I'll be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the light

Skin too tight and eyes like marbles
You spin me high so watch me as I glide
Before I tumble homeward, homeward

I know I tried, I was not stable
Flawed by pride, I miss my sanguine eyes
So hold my hands up...breathe in, breathe out.

But love the one you hold
And I'll be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the light

And in the middle of the night, I may watch you go
There'll be no value in the strength of walls that I have grown
There'll be no comfort in the shade of the shadows thrown
You may not trust the promises of the change I'll show
But I'll be yours if you'll be mine

So love the one you hold
And I will be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the light

So love the one you hold
And I will be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the light
